I am a 24-year-old artist based in Chesterfield County, South Carolina. I have been painting with physical paint for a little over four years now. I love to paint en plein air, still life, alla prima, nature, people, and animals. My work is a mixture of expressionism and dramatic, saturated color, as I go in with bold brushstrokes and get creative with color. I am efficient with value, and most of my work is done freehand, so I also have familiarity with capturing proportions, mainly on animals. My work always starts out alla prima, and if necessary, I go in with multiple layers between drying times. The paintings I create are mainly vibrant portraiture and some landscape, and are never ultra photo realism. I like to keep my paintings expressive and focused on likeness to the person or animal, with each bold and suggestive brushstroke thought out carefully to be the least amount of strokes possible while still getting the message of “what this is” when people are looking, although there are exceptions when it comes to people. I have the thought that if I want a realistic photo, I will just use the photo. I love painting pictures that have clear instructions for the eye that say, “hey, this is a creation of likeness, and not a photo.”I was born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri, but now reside in South Carolina.I have been doing art for more than ten years, and I love to paint animals the most. I love to do commissions because it is fun to paint for other people and form relationships, as I love people despite how shy I am. When you commission me, I will paint your pet out of my compassion for art, my love for animals, and your loved ones too.I never would have thought I would be painting with real paint, but my husband encouraged me to pick up a real paintbrush when we first met. I have not done digital paintings in quite some time, as I am very passionate and in love with real paint and how it feels to complete something in oils and be able to feel the textures and brushstrokes with my hands and think, “I did this, I painted this,” and that is an amazing feeling to have. I do oil paintings as my job now and wouldn’t wish for anything more.If you enjoy my work and are interested in having me as your artist, please don’t hesitate to reach out. You can read my commission info and contact me anytime. Xoxo.
